House by Kate is an interior design studio based in Reading, England. Kate collaborates with private clients to create homes that are practical, beautiful and timeless.
MY STORY
I have loved design for as long as I can remember.
In 2009 I graduated from Manchester University with a degree in Design Management for Fashion Retail and spent time working for the likes of Vivienne Westwood. However, as soon as I bought my first flat in London my love affair with design crossed into interiors.
House by Kate began organically. After renovating my second property, I started to share my home through social media. I discovered that people were inspired by my bold use of colour, and my combination of vintage and contemporary furnishings.
This led to a number of interior design enquiries, and it wasn’t long before I was asked to design other people’s houses too. After graduating from the Interior Designer’s Business School I officially launched House by Kate.
MY STYLE
I am passionate about creating beautiful homes for clients with great taste, but who are short of time.
My signature style reflects a mixture of contemporary and traditional, and I work closely with my clients to create homes that couple practicality with a beautiful aesthetic.
My designs are timeless and therefore more sustainable. I will always look to include vintage pieces of furniture amongst new, and I will incorporate or up-cycle existing furniture wherever possible.
Colour is fundamental to my designs, and I encourage my clients to be brave in introducing pattern and colour to their homes.
